Grands tennis matches are events that any Grands user can organise. Each match has a maximum player limit (usually 2 or 4) and the first to reserve the spot gets access to the match.
Waitlist
If a match is fully booked, users can put themselves on a waiting list. Users on the waiting list will receive an email when a new spot becomes available. The first person to sign up for the game will get the new spot.
Chat
After you have secured a place in the game, you will get access to a match chat. In the match chat, you can send messages to other players to sort out the details.
Playing is free
There is no cost to participate in Grands matches. However, in most cases, players share the court fee. The match organiser is responsible for collecting the fee from the players.
Join restrictions
Match organisers on Grands can choose whether to allow open access to their matches or require players to request to join.
When join requests are required, organisers review each request and approve or decline it. If your request is approved, you will receive a push notification and/or email letting you know. Approval does not automatically add you to the match, you'll still need to join the match yourself as usual to secure your spot.
To check if a match is open for direct signup or requires a request, refer to the match details listed on the match’s page.
Cancellation
Make sure you only reserve a spot for the games you plan to participate in. We understand that sometimes unexpected things happen. After you have secured your spot for a game, you can cancel your participation at any time. Be sure to cancel ahead of time and send a chat message to the other players explaining why you cannot attend.
Create a match
Any Grands user can organise a match. Start by filling in the match information on Create Match page.
Title: short and descriptive, for example: "Tennis" or "Saturday Tennis"
Maximum number of players: specify how many players can participate (including you)
Venue: choose the place where you will play
Details: specify the level requirements for the players (see Grands level rating), whether the players should share the court fee and other possible details
Date, Time, and Duration: inform others of the match schedule and whether you are playing for 60 minutes or longer
There are no restrictions on whether you must have a court reserved before entering it on Grands. However, we do require that match organisers clearly state whether the court is booked or not.
After listing the match to Grands, any user can join your match.
Remove player from a match
We trust that users who sign up for a match will show up. A match creator may remove players who have signed up for a match. This may only be used if there is a reason to expect that the registered player won't show up and the organiser wants to free up a spot. We require the organiser to write a reason for the removal that will visible to the deleted user.
To remove a user as an organiser, click on the "Manage players" link on the match page.
